The Walton-Verona Schools believe technology has the potential to transform teaching and learning as an essential component in preparing our students to the meet the realities and challenges of the the 21st century.

Get Office 365 Free On Up to Five Devices
Requires School Email Account

In order to help students prepare for success this school year, Microsoft is providing Office to every student free of charge. With Office 365, you will now have access to the latest version of Word, for writing; Excel, for spreadsheets; PowerPoint, for presentations; OneNote, for organization and note taking; and much more.

• Install on up to 5 compatible PCs and Macs, plus 5 tablets (including iPad!)
• Use with OneDrive for automatic device syncing
• Gain valuable skills on the world’s most popular productivity software
• Office subscription lasts for as long as your child is a student here and the program continues
Follow these simple steps to get Office:

1. For PC and Mac:
a. Visit Office.com/GetOffice365
b. Click through to sign in with school-provided credentials & download
c. On the installation page select your language and click install

2. For iOS and Android:
a. Download from your app store
b. Sign in with your school credentials for full editing capability

You will need your school email account to sign in (firstname.lastname@stu.wv.kyschools.us). If you have trouble installing Office, this guide may resolve your issue: http://aka.ms/office365help.

You can also access the software by logging into your email. Look for a triangle with an exclamation point. Click on the Get it now link in the message.

Re-enter your password.

It will take you to the screen to download the software. Click on the Install Now button.

Bring Your Own Device Policy
Walton-Verona Schools currently provides technology that is appropriate and relevant to support instructional purposes. Therefore, the use of personal devices by students is optional. Students who do not participate in BYOD will not be penalized, and alternative modes of participation will be available. The High School BYOD Agreement, Middle School BYOD Agreement, Approved Device List and Instructions for registering your device are listed below.

Walton-Verona Elementary School 
Handheld Video Games and MP3 players may be used on the school bus with driver approval and in the gym before school only. 

Walton-Verona High/Middle School
1. Devices must be registered on BearcatNet to access the Internet.
2. Devices must use BearcatNet to access the Internet.
3. Devices may not use personal data plans while at school to access the Internet.
4. Devices may only be used with teacher permission during class.

Student File Storage
The Walton-Verona Technology Department provides networked file storage for all students. This storage allows for saving of student work, the routine backup of student work and collaboration among students and teachers.

Google Drive
Students with a Google account have a unlimited storage provided by Google. Google Drive allows students to store files in the cloud and make them automatically available on their smartphone, tablet, or any computer. You can work on documents right in your browser.

OneDrive for Business
Students with an email account (grades 8th and up) have a free 1TB OneDrive for Business provided by Microsoft. The OneDrive for Business allows students to store files in the cloud and make them automatically available on their smartphone, tablet, or any computer. You can work on documents saved on OneDrive for Business using the free Office Web Apps right in your browser, or you can view and edit them using Office on your PC and Mac.
