Physical Education

The Problem: In the last 20 years the percentage of overweight and obese Americans has skyrocketed to 65%...but worse is the fact that 31% of the nation's children age 6-19 are overweight or obese.  Unfortunately trends are still moving in the wrong direction and by year 2030 it is estimated that one out of every three Americans will have type II diabetes.  The biggest reason for this is lack of education.  Most Americans want to be healthier they just don't know how to go about it.

The Solution: To educate students in a way that is meaningful and practical so they can achieve and maintain a healthy body, mind, and spirit for the rest of their lives.

Based on the problem above our main objective is to educate students in the area of nutrition, physical activity and weight maintenance.  We feel it is vitally important for students to have a good grasp on what it means to eat a healthy diet (not go on diets) and the role physical activity plays so they can be healthy and fit for a lifetime.

Other Topics Covered: Health Club Fitness, Sport Education.
