Monday, October 21

Here’s something you didn’t know you knew:  Today is National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day and the state bird of North Carolina is the Northern Cardinal..

Any students in grades 11-12 who are interested in learning more about a career in manufacturing should attend the manufacturing day field trip on 10.25. See Mrs. Hester for a permission form.

Auditions for the Children’s play “Gingerbread Girl” will be held October 22 from 3-5 in room 404.  This will be performed at and for the elementary school December 3.

Reminder that the UPS field trip is next Wednesday, October 30th.  If you have not turned in your permission slip, please do so ASAP.  If you are interested and did not get a form, please stop by room 315 and pick one up.


Athletic Announcements: 

·   The Varsity Football team defeated Owen County 49-19 and Louisville Shawnee 42-0 over Fall Break

o   The Varsity Football team is off this Friday night, but the JV team travels to Scott High School tonight kickoff is at 6:00.

·   The Varsity Volleyball team hosts the 32nd District Tournament today and tomorrow

o   The Varsity Girls host Williamstown tonight at 7:00, at 6:00 tonight Simon Kenton takes on Grant County here at WVHS.  Finals our tomorrow at 6:00 at Walton-Verona

·   The Freshman Boys Basketball team will have tryouts today at 3:00-4:30 in the MS gym, you must have an active physical to tryout.

HS Girls Basketball tryouts will be today from 4:30-6:00 in the MS gym. You must have an active physical on file to tryout. 



Friday, October 11

Here’s something you didn’t know you knew:  Today is National Fossil Day and the state bird of New York is the Eastern Bluebird.

Any students in grades 11-12 who are interested in learning more about a career in manufacturing should attend the manufacturing day field trip on 10.25. See Mrs. Hester for a permission form.


Students interested in traveling to Portugal and Spain need to see Mrs. Teepen. Students receive $100 off if they sign up by this Friday, October 11th

·   Varsity Volleyball defeated NCC is straight sets last night on senior night! 

o   The JV Volleyball team defeated NCC in 3 sets, while the Freshman team fell to the Lady Thoroughbreds.

·   Varsity Football team takes on district rival Owen County tonight at 7:30.  It is senior night tonight at the complex, festivities will start before 7:00. 


Thursday, October 10

Here’s something you didn’t know you knew:  Today is National Angel Food Cake Day and the state bird of New Mexico is the Greater Roadrunner.

This year’s shanty town experience begins this evening at 7 in room 404 and will conclude after the overnight at the complex when school begins tomorrow.  A reminder to all participants, you are responsible for all school work and expected to stay, the full school day… no whining.

o   The Girls Soccer team will play in the Regional tournament on Monday, site, time, and opponent to be determined on Sunday.

·   The Freshman, JV & Varsity Volleyball teams all defeated Boone County last night.

o   Tonight the volleyball teams host NCC, and tonight is senior night for the varsity volleyball team.  Games tonight start at 5:30

This year’s shanty town experience will be on Thursday, October 10th beginning at 7pm in room 404 with a fantastic presentation from the Emergency Shelter of Northern KY and then overnight at the Sports Complex.  The cost to participate is $5 and permission slips are available from Mr. Kneisley. Permission slips and the $5 are due Today..

Any student interested in joining the Spirit Club should come to Mrs. Mayer’s room during seminar on Wednesday for a brief informational meeting.  The Spirit Club will be planning pep rallies, spirit weeks and other activities to support our school’s extracurricular activities. If you cannot attend Wednesday's meeting, see Mrs. Mayer during the school day Thursday for important info.

·   Hannah Hall plays in the 2nd day of the KHSAA Girls Golf State Tourney today.  She is in 39th place out of over 140 golfers starting the day. 

·   The Varsity Girls Soccer team defeated Grant county 10-0 last night in the semifinals of the District Tourney, the girls face Simon Kenton tonight at SK at 6:00 in the finals.

·   The Freshman, JV & Varsity Volleyball teams host Boone County tonight at 5:30
